OnePlus was among the first manufacturers to launch a 5G smartphone when it introduced the world to the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G alongside OnePlus 7. Then came the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro, however, none of them support this communication technology. Now it seems that there is a 5G gamma-media on the way.
A new 5G gamma-media smartphone from One Plus is coming!
Now in a surprise twist, OnePlus founder and CEO, Liu Zuohu, has indicated that his company will soon launch a 5G smartphone in two ways before the end of this year. The CEO stated this in an interview in which he also explained the reasons why the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G was not launched in China. It is an exclusive model for the foreign market and as such was not launched in that country. To compensate, the next dual-mode 5G smartphone will be launched in China and may even be an exclusive for the Chinese market.
Liu Zuohu did not reveal the exact date on which the device will be released, nor the name it will use. However, he said it will be presented in the fourth quarter of 2019.
The most interesting part of the disclosure is that the device supports the modes not autonomous (NSA) and autonomous (SA) at the level of 5G. Non-autonomous (NSA) and autonomous (SA) are two 5G modes that communication service operators can choose when making the transition from 4G to next-generation mobile technology. The first 5G networks to be implemented are NSAs. That is, 5G networks are aided by the existing 4G infrastructure. When 5G is properly implemented, then they should move to standalone 5G.
Not much more information is known about this equipment. However, OnePlus suggests that the new 5G smartphone is likely to use the Qualcomm SM7250 chipset, which is not exactly an iconic processor. In fact, it is an average gamma but comes with a 5G modem.
That said, we need to wait for more information before we know a little more about the specifications. Still, and looking at the processor, it’s likely to be more attractive than the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G.
